Michelle Metcalf discusses her vein treatment experience at Vein911

…the women’s group through four pregnancies, and Dr. Alok [SP], I believe, said that they were bringing Dr. Pittman in to help because they had a lot of patients with vein issues in their legs. I came in for a consult because my husband was worried that the last pregnancy, the veins were…my legs were really bad, a lot of swelling, a lot of issues, and he was worried that if we decided to have another baby there could be some danger to me. So I came in just to see if there was, and make sure it was safe if we did get pregnant again, and that’s when I found out that I didn’t even need to wait, I could take care of the issues that were going on. Because most of the time they tell you, you have to wait until you’re done having children before they’ll even start working on any of the problems you have with your legs, and I found out that, you know, I didn’t have to wait. I also found out that it was a lot worse than I thought it was. It wasn’t dangerous, but I had a lot more issues than I originally knew. And when we traced it, it all came back to in my pelvis, and it kind of snowballed into a big thing and I didn’t realize. I didn’t realize a lot of the things that had gone on in the past, symptom-wise, were related to it, either. So, it was really interesting.

It’s been, probably, a two-year process. I feel a lot better. I feel a lot better. I actually had gotten rid of most of my shorts. I had a few that I bagged up and stuck in the attic because I said, “I’m never gonna be able to wear these again,” because my legs were horrible looking. So I, actually last summer, wore shorts again when I went to the beach. So, yeah, it was nice. I never thought I’d be there. I never thought that I’d be able to wear shorts again, so it was great.

When I started seeing him, he was still setting up out-patient surgical centers for the procedures, and he’s just worked through. I think I’ve been… I did an out-patient procedure, or out-patient surgery center once, and then ended up going to Bayfront twice to have the procedure done because the veins in the pelvis were so dilated they didn’t have coils big enough. So the first time they did what they could, but they didn’t have the right size, so I had to go back a second time. And then, we went back in a third time to see if the other side needed any coils and to finish up the first side

But he’s been amazing. As I said, it’s been a two-year process, but it’s worked out so well. I’m just so happy with the results
